Originally a French varietal, Chardonnay is now grown everywhere that wine is produced, from Nova Scotia to England to New Zealand and beyond. Chardonnay is crisp, fruit-forward, and delicious.

Gentle citrus aromas and generous tropical fruit flavours are accented with a subtle touch of oak with a rich mouthfeel and vanilla undertones.

While Sonoma County has no shortage of grape growing areas, Dry Creek Valley is certainly the most compact with over 70 wineries and 9000 acres of vines in an area just 16 miles long and two miles wide. Dry Creek Valley’s modern reputation for premium wine is a testament to its ideal grape growing conditions; long warm days allow the fruit to fully ripen, while coastal cooling in the evening enables the grapes to mature slowly and retain their acidity and balance. These conditions are perfect for California's signature varietals, as well as many French varietals.

In terms of food pairings, all of the typical white wine suggestions will apply. White meats and fish are great choices. Since Chardonnay has some richness, consider richer food options like chicken Caesar salad, salmon with a buttery sauce, or fish cakes. Avoid tomato-based dishes - crisp Italian whites are a better choice.
