A Bordeaux-style blend of California soil, Meritus brings together Old World tradition and New World character in a bold, expressive red blend.
Bordeaux-style blends from New World grapes are called Meritage wines, a term coined in the 1980s by California winemakers seeing a name for their tradition-bending blends. Today, Meritage wines are celebrated as some of the finest in New World winemaking, and Meritus is crafted in their spirit.
The climate in Lodi, California, is comparable to the Mediterranean's. That makes it ideal for growing Bordeaux varieties. Grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot ripen fully while retaining balance and structure, producing high-quality wines.
Meritus is a Latin word meaning "deserving of praise" and reflects this wine's timeless quality, prestige, and craftsmanship. A wine of merit, crafted to honour both tradition and terroir.
Tasting notes: plum, blackcurrant, red berries, and spice with subtle cedar and chocolate.
A wide variety of food pairing options are suitable. Beef, pork, chicken, and duck are all great proteins to pair with Meritus. For cheeses, we suggest manchego, white cheddar, or provolone. Choose herbs and spices like black pepper, oregano, rosemary, cumin, or coriander when cooking.
Contains grape skins for added body and flavour.
